Moving on after a hard time isn’t easy. You lose valuable time in your life. But again it’s better to move forward than sticking to your problems.
No one wants to feel down. Yet no one can control it. Know that you are in charge of your happiness. You have all the right to be happy and live happily.
It’s okay to feel low. Some people or situations may let you feel that you are unworthy. But that doesn’t mean you are!!
It is more important to get up and bounce back.
There are many who want to see you at your lowest level. Don’t let their desires come true.
Work on yourself, get better day by day and, show everyone your worthiness who once made you feel unworthy.
Here I have discussed the 6 most effective ways to boost yourself when you are not yourself. I have experienced these methods my self when I felt down. They work only if you are desired enough for your betterment.
8 WAYS TO BOOST YOUR SELF
1. Stop lurking in your past:
What happened in your past should be left in your past. You should start thinking this way
“ Maybe whatever happened was for my betterment, for my growth. And if this has not taken place I might not be where I m right now. God knows well where I belong and is always helping me .”
At starting you may not feel the sync with what you are saying to yourself. But gradually your heart and mind will adapt with your words if you kept on saying so.
2. Try this for 5 mins each day:
Okay, what I m going to ask you to do will do wonders if you did it by all your heart. I am myself doing this for long and can feel its amazing results.
What you have to do is each night before going to sleep write three things that made you smile during the day.
It doesn’t need to be very big achievements or matters. Any small thing can also give you a feeling of gratitude.
Like you can mention that's how your mother praised you when you made her a cup of tea.
Or if your teacher said you are a nice student. Or if you helped your friend to tackle something they can’t get done by themselves.
All I want you to think is feeling the gratitude towards small things. They do matter a lot. You will never get to know what might change your thinking!
Give this a try. Make a journal and do this daily. At least after writing this, you’ll get to know what made you smile and you’ll sleep with positivity.
3. Listen to podcasts or read books:
The podcast is one of the simplest ways to get positive. And if you don’t like reading books then also a good alternative for books.
You don’t have to take out specific time to do this. Like I will give you an example of mine. Whenever I feel like I don’t want to do any brain consuming work or if I got something that doesn’t require much attention like housework, laundry, cleaning, I simply plug in my favorite positivity podcast.
In case you love reading books then you must change it to self- help books. Start reading something that gives you something in return. Novels are good but they don’t give you positivity!
4. Spend time with family:
I don’t know if you have the best company but no one can ever take place in your family. They know you well. Not every member of the family but your mother necessarily, she knows your emotions, your strengths, your weaknesses.
Why I say that no one can ever take the place of your family because others can leave you at some point in time but not your family. They are the ones who truly want to see you succeed.
If you give your friends more important than your family then don’t. Make a strong bond with your favorite family member. They will always be there for you!
5. Stop comparing :
Nobody likes to get compared! Remark it nobody. Every person is born with their uniqueness. Some with good mathematical skills, some with good cooking skills, some with attention-catching looks. You also have something others don’t.
Even if others compare you, let them. You can’t control them. But never do so to yourself. Not everything others say is true. You know you!! Others don’t.
6. Work on your strengths :
Rather than comparing yourself with others, work on your strengths. The more you get better at your skill the more you’ll feel your uniqueness.
Also, it will help you gain self -esteem and self -confidence. Have faith in you, your talent . When you stand out on account of your strengths, it is something that gives you courage during those unhealthy times.
7. Stop listening to others :
Others can say whatever they want to. You have to understand that other’s thoughts about you don’t matter. They didn’t know what you experienced.
People make judgments to drag you down. But you have to keep moving and stop caring about others. Listen to your heart. Listen to your mind.
8. Find a hobby:
Start investing time on what you love doing.
Find a hobby. Reminisce your childhood when you used to have a fun hour after you completed your school homework.
I remember mine, I used to paint. I loved my art classes. Every time I felt low or didn’t want to study I spent time playing with colors.
Everyone has something they love to do when they were a child.
It just so happens when we grow up, we leave behind our interests and start following other's thoughts.
